State of the UN SDGs in Canada - Halfway to 2030

Halfway to 2030: How Is Canada Doing on the SDGs?

As we reach the halfway point to the 2030 deadline for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it’s time to take stock of Canada’s progress. The recent "State of the SDGs in Canada" video offers a candid look at where we stand-and where we need to go.

Canada has made some real strides, especially in its five priority areas: ending poverty, improving education, advancing gender equality, taking climate action, and building strong partnerships. There’s been a big push to get everyone involved, from governments and Indigenous communities to local organizations and businesses.

But the truth is, Canada isn’t on track to hit all 17 SDGs by 2030. Persistent challenges like poverty, inequality, and climate change need more urgent action and creative solutions. The message is clear: we need to speed things up, work together, and make sure no one gets left behind.

Moving forward, Canada’s success will depend on stronger partnerships, more transparency, and a commitment to reconciliation and data-driven results. The SDGs are ambitious-but with renewed energy and collective action, there’s still time to make real progress.
